Default Necrotize Ally: Bug or as Intended?

Created the hotbutton:

/cast 1
/pause 3
/blockspell add pet 19836
/pause 3
/blockspell remove pet 19836

with Necrotize Ally in spellgem #1; then button mash this hotkey

Apparently, the ticking timebomb that is the Necrotize Ally "buff" can be shortfused by just clicking off the buff. With the macro above, you can trim this down as fast as possible (tweak the pauses)

In the end, you wind up being able to have your pet chaincast 7k PBAEs. Necrotize is a 0.5 cast time, plus standard cool down and 460 mana base. Interesting tool to do damage where, I assume, the aggro is going straight to the pet.

Soooo, I assume it isn't supposed to work like this? I haven't done the math to seem if the mana cost of chaincasting this is worth it (or like dropping a single dot in a group environment and chaincasting this) or if it is adequate bursty dps in situations where the mob is dying fast. I know doing trash clearing in CoA seemed to go really fast with my pet being the PBAE'ing bastard, plus he never caught aggro. Now, if only he could crit...

But, if it isn't how this was supposed to work, what's the point of this spell except some odd farming? Also, I don't see any stun actually happening to the pet (the little swirly stun halo effect)

Also, apologize if this has already been brought up, haven't seen it elsewhere.

I also don't see any stun, seems the pet still attacks and doesn't take any of the ae dmg. don't see why they would put that in anyway..not like its a gamebreaker. maybe it has something to do with higher pet foci the ones that start with highest innate cloak off setting stuff.

I use it farm some ts stuff on lower mobs, and have other mobs aggro all on my pet with getting like old world items, ntov clears for the clicky stick and such. Also if you pet molo tank a bit NA/NP seems to add some nice pet aggro if SC is down espically..less FD dancing.

We asked that in beta. Never got a response, other than later discovering some of the UF tasks where you are swarmed by a large number of low-HP mobs. So I guessed this is a token tool to be productive in those types of cases, and dropped my questioning. Besides, we are the last DPS caster to get this type of spell i.e. beam, etc. so the AE functionality fit.

And farming old stuff. Its handy for that, faster than our AE trap.

Thanks for the hotkey idea.
Did the "kill 10 hulking warboars" task stage in Tosk in less than 3 minutes.
Going to be very helpful in farming.

Clicking it off IS actually working as intended apprarently, at least so much as it was very clear in beta thats how it worked and we never heard back and it never got changed but thats somewhat par for the course of spells.
I was under the impression that you could just recast the spell and didn't even need to click it off. Atleast it was like that in beta IIRC.

Its not exactly earth shattering IMO but I wouldn't be suprised if something was supose to happen to the pet that isn't actually happening. They just didn't give enough dialog with spells to assume anything was properly tweaked.

On Test, can not click it off, and it kills pet when it fires welcome to the back of my spell book.

Is that new or has it been that way since release?
